Let’s talk Makeup! Quick review of the Younique Brand

Here’s a totally U-turn of a post and one that I thought might be of interest to some of my readers.

I am a Younique Beauty product convert and have no issues with apologizing for my negativity, over the past year.  Well, not so much negativity, more like ‘I thought it was a rip off’.

A few friends have and still are Younique Presenters and they are enjoying the fact they can mix their fondness for all things make up and a little bit of spending money.  So I decided to take the plunge and join the ranks trying Younique Products to see what the fuss is all about.

As a product reviewer, I put my bias thoughts to one side and started digging into the products and so far, I have found that certain Younique products are simply unbeatable, compared to other high street brands that are available.

Let’s start with the Younique MoodStruck 3D Fibre Lases:

With the MoodStruck 3D Lashes, you will receive 1 x transplanting Gel tube, 1 x Fibre lashes tube, 1 x storage pouch and a leaflet with instructions.  For the full ingredients list, please click here (select).

Basically, it looks like 2 tubes of mascara, so don’t panic!  the large tube is the transplanting gel and the smaller tube is the smaller one.  younique

To use (and please keep in mind that you need to get the hang of putting these one, before they start looking decent):  You need to use the transplant gel first, with the brush place it at the base of the eye lashes and gently but slowly move the brush to the tips.  I found that doing this step about 3 times, coats the lashes enough.  Then take your fiber lashes and very gently work the brush from the bash of the lash to the tip.  Once this step is done, seal the fibers in by putting another coating of transplant gel, on top.

Only do 1 line of lashes at a time, otherwise you’ll look like a hot mess, by the time you finish!

I have found that 1 layer of fibers works a treat and makes a big difference but you can build on the layers.  You will find that each time you use the 3D Fiber Lashes, it becomes easier to place them on and as a bonus, it’s damn hard to remove them.  So much better than applying false lashes, I can tell you!  Do be careful though, as the fibers can get into your eyes and they sting……when applying, take it slowly.

The only issue I have with the 3D Fiber Lashes is the price but to be honest, for £23.00 GBP, you are getting a complete bargain.  There is nothing in the highstreet market, that can match these fiber lashes, I know this as I have hunted high and low!  Yes you can get yourself a damn good mascara from Benefit Cosmetics (Roller Lash) but it won’t give you that dramatic look, like wearing false lashes would.

My overall thoughts of the Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes…………Damn good!  Ladies (and gents), you really do need to nab yourself a set, which you can do so by visiting the below link.

I am forever chopping, changing and mixing foundations together, to get that perfect complexion.  I am fair(ish) skinned and find it hard to match foundation colours, I 2016-01-26 12.18.41can ever look too pale or slightly too dark.  For years I have been mixing my Benefits Cosmetic Hello Flawless in Ivory Fair with a face moisturizer and it has worked.  I am in-between their Ivory Fair and Champagne coloration.  I was spending £26.50 GBP on Hello Flawless and then another £5 or more on a decent facial moisturizer, each year.  OK, that’s not a mega amount of cash but it does add up.

(Left Photo:  right side is with the cream foundation, left side is half a concealer and half bare)

When I received my Mineral’s Touch color chart, I was ecstatic to see that I may have found my perfect color!  I picked Organza, with seems to be the ‘go to’ foundation Younique color and is VERY popular.  I ordered myself the organza in the Younique Mineral Touch Cream (£25.00) AND liquid foundations (£30.00).

Both foundations are excellent and give pretty much a medium to full coverage.  The Younique Mineral Touch Liquid Foundation, is pretty much a no brainer!  There is really no need for the use of a primer, you will find 4-6 droplets is more than enough to cover your face.  It’s easy to apply and doesn’t leave you with that ‘heavy’ feeling that other brands, do.  I’ve cheated, I have not used the Younique Powder Puff brush, personally I don’t think there is a need to, there are some fabulous powder puff brushes out on the market or blending sponges.  I will say though that using your fingers is a no go, mainly as you can’t get a decent coverage all over.

With the Mineral Touch Cream Foundation, it gives a medium coverage and goes on pretty easy.  It comes in a mirror compact and a good quality sponge applicator.  This option is £25.00, which is £5.00 cheaper than the liquid version.  However, I did find that the Liquid Touch gives a full coverage, whereas the cream foundation gives a medium coverage but for full, I have had to use a primer or concealer, to get that full coverage effect.  The Younique Touch Mineral Skin Perfecting Concealer, is brilliant and will help with getting that full smooth finished look (£23.00).

If you want to cheat like me, I have used the POREfessional face primer by Benefit Cosmetics, before I was able to get my hands on the Skin Perfecting Concealer and I was adamant that my Benefit’s option was perfectly fine BUT I have swayed towards my Younique Concealer, as it works much better in conjunction with my foundations.  If you think about it though, you’d be spending £23.00 on the Younique concealer for a 100% overall or £24.50 on the POREfessional, which is great (don’t get me wrong, I do love this product too) but why go for great, when you can spend a tiny bit less, for excellent?

Back to my thoughts on the Liquid and Cream foundations:  If you want a foundation that is light, quick to blend and feeling effortless, then I would pick the Mineral Touch Cream Foundation (click here) BUT if you want that full coverage with not having to put on a primer or concealer before hand, then I would pick the Mineral Touch Liquid Foundation (click here).

Are Younique Products really worth the price?  In short, Yes they are!  You are not only getting a high quality product but you are purchasing a long lasting, not tested on animals and the majority vegan friendly, product.  I have been a Benefit’s Cosmetic lover for a good decade and couldn’t find any other brands that could sit on par with them, until now.

Please don’t hesitate if the prices seem a little too high with certain products, because every penny really is worth spending.
